Basic Search

What good does it do you to search Google for something when you get 50,000,000 sites in the return. No one ever checks that many sites. Unfortunately for you, what you really need the most, may show up last on the list. This will fix that.

1. Create a new Word document. Save it as: Last_First_basic8B   (last two items are your grade and your teacher). Enable your drawing and pictures, then go to Tools, Options,  and add a check for paragraph marks (under View), and uncheck the drawing canvas box (under General). If you don't know how to do that, click here for help.

A. Go to Google.com
B. In the Google search bar, type this: American Revolution         Then press the Search button. Print the screen. Paste it into your Word document. Notice how many results you got.

C. Go back to Google.com  In the Google search bar, type this:  "American Revolution"   (be sure to use the quotation marks). Press enter. Print the screen. Paste it into your Word document. Notice how many results you got.

D. Copy the following sentences into your Word document and paste them into your Word document under the two pictures.

When you typed American Revolution with no quotation marks, how many web sites did Google find?
When you typed "American Revolution with the quotation marks, how many web sites did Google find?

Answer both questions on your Word document. Show the teacher for a grade.
